Funeral and cremation services in Farmington
Farmington is San Juan County's largest city, with 46,624 residents in the 2020 Census (the county seat is Aztec). Four funeral homes are based here, and it's worth knowing who owns them: Cope Memorial Chapel, Brewer Lee & Larkin and Alternative Choice all belong to the same company, Serenity & Co., while Farmington Funeral Home is locally owned by the Ferrari family. All four say they answer around the clock.
Navajo and other traditions
More than a quarter of Farmington residents are American Indian, and most of San Juan County is Navajo Nation land. The state Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) says: "Family burials (including traditional Navajo members) are allowed in the State of New Mexico." If the OMI is involved, call its Decedent Affairs office at (505) 272-1361 about the documents needed for release. None of the four funeral homes' websites describes Navajo traditions, so ask how each one supports them on your first call.

Because three of the four homes have the same owner, comparing all four doesn't give you four independent prices. Ask each for its total price for a direct cremation or immediate burial, and remember that federal law requires every funeral home to give you its price list over the phone.
