Who Owns New Mexico's Funeral Homes?

Many funeral homes keep their old family names after being bought by a larger company, and some "competitors" share an owner. Here's what we've been able to verify, with the source for each.

Of the providers in our directory, 28 belong to a company or local group listed below, and 7 more state on their own websites that they're independent or family-owned. We don't characterize any provider whose ownership we haven't verified, so if a home isn't listed here, ask it directly. Ownership doesn't tell you the price; the published price lists do.

Common questions

Is Neptune Society part of Dignity Memorial?

They are sister brands. Both are owned by Service Corporation International (SCI), the largest funeral company in the U.S. Neptune Society has an Albuquerque office.

Are two funeral homes with different names really competitors?

Not always. In Farmington, three of the four funeral homes belong to Serenity & Co., and in Alamogordo one family owns all three providers. When comparing prices, make sure you are comparing different owners.

Does ownership affect the price?

Not in any predictable way, which is why the price list matters more than the name on the sign. Under the FTC Funeral Rule every funeral home must give you its General Price List on request, including over the phone. See every published New Mexico price on our comparison page.
